I just finished watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 4 episode 1. I chose to watch the start of this season because it’s when she first goes to college. I used to watch Buffy a lot a long, long, very long time ago so I understood the show’s structure and knew all of the characters already. I’m pretty sure I saw all of the seasons. Anyway, I wanted to watch this episode because there was a lot to relate as Buffy begins her freshman year of college.
Because we aren’t supposed to summarize the whole episode for this blog, I’ll just give a quick summary of what happened. The episode is based around Buffy’s first week of college and she is struggling to adjust to everything. She eventually discovers a group of vampires on campus, so, she did what she does best, and she killed all of them.
I wanted to focus on Buffy’s first experience with college. Buffy struggles to “fit-in” with college life and can’t seem to find acceptance anywhere or meet any new friends. She walks around the first day looking confused and quite overwhelmed, although her friends all seem to be having an easy time adjusting. It took Buffy until the end of the episode to realize college is a lot different than high school. I think what Buffy was experiencing is what every incoming freshman fears the most about college. Everyone wants to adjust to new independence and meet new friends. I think any new freshman can relate with the way Buffy feels in this first episode. Buffy kicks ass.
i used to watch all of the buffy shows when i was younger and i loved them. classics
